A Putnam County Common Pleas Court judge denied Travis Soto's request to have charges dismissed and a plea agreement that he accepted in 2006 enforced. Soto served five years in prison for child endangerment after saying his 2-year-old son died in an ATV accident in 2006.

In 2016, he admitted to law enforcement that he staged the accident and beat his son to death. Soto was indicted again, this time for aggravated murder and four other charges.

The case has been passed around higher courts because his lawyers argue that he cannot be charged again for the same incident that he has already served time for. Now the case has returned to Putnam County for another trial. Soto's next pretrial hearing has been set for July.
