Gervens Justilien, the man accused of the March 2024 murder of an American Township woman, will have his trial postponed. Originally scheduled to begin on January 14, 2025, Judge Jeffrey Reed allowed a motion for continuance entertained by Justilien's defense. A new trial date has not been set. The postponement is to allow an independent DNA expert to complete their investigation of collected evidence and release their findings.

As part of the plea agreement, Stalf agreed to pay $315,572.65 in criminal restitution to the Columbus Zoo, State of Ohio and Internal Revenue Service. This amount is in addition to the $400,000.00 of restitution already made on his behalf in 2021.

Grant Bell of Gallaway was charged with one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony. Bell is the son of former zoo chief financial officer Greg Bell and worked closely with Tracey Murnane, a former zoo purchasing agent. Both Greg Bell and Murnane have pleaded guilty for their roles in the fraud scheme.

A man loses his request to have murder charges dismissed against him for the 2006 death of his son. A Putnam County Common Pleas Court judge denied Travis Soto's request to have charges dismissed and a plea agreement that he accepted in 2006 enforced. Soto served five years in prison for child endangerment after saying his 2-year-old son died in an ATV accident in 2006.
George Wagner IV made the request in a filing Monday with the Ohio Court of Appeals. He claims there were several errors during his 2022 trial — where he was found guilty of all 22 counts he faced, including eight counts of aggravated murder — and argues in his filing that there’s “a reasonable probability that jurors were swayed” by the alleged errors.
A former Allen County school superintendent has pleaded not guilty to sex-related charges in Logan County. 66-year-old Dennis Fuge of Spencerville was arraigned on the charges of gross sexual imposition and attempted sexual battery, both 4th-degree felonies. A two-day jury trial for the case has been set for November.
The trial for a Mansfield man who is facing charges for a March stabbing has been pushed back until September 2024. 30-year-old Rocky Hayner signed a time waiver this week, and the judge has moved the trial back to the fall. His lawyer has asked that statements that he made during interviews with law enforcement be suppressed. A hearing will be held in July to discuss that motion.
