Soto had a pretrial hearing Thursday morning in Putnam County. His lawyers asked that his bond be reduced from half a million dollars. This murder case has been going on for nearly 8 years.

Soto served five years in prison for child endangerment after saying his 2-year-old son died in an ATV accident. Years after serving his time, Soto admitted to law enforcement he staged the accident and beat his son to death. Soto was indicted again, this time for aggravated murder and four other charges.

The case has been passed around higher courts because his lawyers argue that he can not be charged again for the same incident that he has already served time. A federal appeals court ruled that Soto can face murder and other charges for the 2006 incident and the case has returned to Putnam County. His next pretrial is set for April.
