Patrick Henry ends Columbus Grove’s title defense in regional semifinal

BLUFFTON (WLIO) — Patrick Henry knocked off defending Division VI state champion Columbus Grove 48-41 in a regional semifinal at the Sommer Center on the campus of Bluffton University.
The Patriots built a 25-12 halftime lead after holding Columbus Grove scoreless in the second quarter. Meyta Hieber led Patrick Henry with 15 points.
Columbus Grove rallied in the fourth behind Nicole Nesby, who led the Bulldogs with 14 points, cutting the deficit to two late. However, Patrick Henry closed the game out at the free throw line to secure the win.
Patrick Henry advances to the regional final against Margaretta on Saturday at Bluffton, while Columbus Grove finishes the season 22-4.
