LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - With gardening season right around the corner, the South Jackson Community Gardens is bringing an educational series to Lima.
The South Jackson Community Garden Education Series is a free program hosted by Activate Allen County and supported through the Central State Extension Office. Each month features a different topic, all aimed at teaching gardening, growing food and canning techniques. Designed for all ages, the series focuses on teaching the essentials of growing plants and vegetables while encouraging community involvement.
“Gardening isn’t just about planting and getting the produce, but it’s about the community aspect and coming together and learning together,” said Chad Welker, associate director for Activate Allen County. “We know that food and security is an issue in our area, and we want to make sure we are providing all of the resources, not just the space to grow, but the education to learn.”
For future events at the gardens, organizers encourage residents to visit the group’s Facebook page.
