LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Students at South Science and Technology Magnet put their problem-solving skills to the test to create an automated machine.

Some fifth and sixth-grade enrichment students took on the task of creating a scaled-down version of a computer numerical control machine, which is used to cut out shapes in materials. But the catch is that each of their kits has some problems with it, so the students have to put their engineer caps on to diagnose and find the solution.

"Like we have to add a few more pieces, wheels to make the paper move because the wheels have more grip on the paper," says Zerian Wantland, a 6th grader at South Science and Technology Magnet. "Because it is like rubber on paper, and we had to slow down the code. So, the paper doesn't go flying out."

"It is very fun but confusing," says Migjoy Godsey, a 5th grader at South Science and Technology Magnet.

"What do you like about it?" asked the reporter.

"I like that we get to give our minds a challenge to try and fix things because lots of people like to be engineers," replies Godsey.

This is the second project the students work on with their Lego robotics kits.
