December 1, 2023 Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP - The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash involving a car and a pedestrian. The crash occurred on December 1, 2023, at approximately 5:41 A.M. on Springfield Xenia Road and Fairfield Pike, Township of Springfield, Clark County, Ohio.
A preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Chrysler 200 LX, driven by Robenson Louis, age 38, from Springfield was traveling southbound on Springfield Xenia Road and struck a pedestrian, Kathy L. Heaton, age 71, from Springfield. The pedestrian was crossing the road from the west and was struck in the roadway.
Kathy L. Heaton was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
Robinson Louis was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol-Springfield Post.
Clark County Sheriff's Office and Springfield Township Fire/EMS department assisted with the crash.
