May 7, 2025, Press Release from the Ohio Nurses Association:

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Registered nurses at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, represented by the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) and AFT, have successfully negotiated a new contract agreement that secures improvements to support quality patient care and a resilient workforce. As a result of reaching this agreement, the informational picket previously scheduled for May 10th will not take place.

The new contract, which applies to the hospital’s 105-member nursing union, will be in effect from April 10, 2025, through April 10, 2028.

Below is a statement issued by ProMedica:

“After months of negotiating with the Ohio Nurses Association bargaining team in good faith, ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital is pleased to announce that a tentative agreement was recently voted on and passed by the union membership. As a result, a three-year contract has been ratified by the union.

We are delighted to have reached our mutual goal of establishing new contract terms that reflect the priorities of both parties. We deeply value the work our nurses and other care team members do each and every day, and we remain committed to supporting them as we all work together to provide the community with high-quality, safe, and compassionate care.”
