Wildlife affected by milder winter

The mild winter we’ve had could be a blessing or a curse to area wildlife.

On the one hand, the spring-like temperatures we’re experiencing are no big deal for deer and squirrels who remain active all winter long.

For other animals like groundhogs, possums and raccoons the warmer weather may be messing with their biological clocks and rousing them from their sleep earlier than normal.

Birds can also be affected negatively by the earlier warmer weather.

Since it’s only February you can expect more cold weather with some possible snow before spring is officially here.
