On Saturday area organizations united to help local children get ready for their summer bike adventures.
Dozens of children came out Saturday to the west Ohio Community Action Partnership for the Bike Rodeo. Kids got the opportunity to participate in bike safety courses with the Lima Police Department and the Lima Park Rangers. They also got their bikes repaired, participated in several activities and had the chance to win a free bike.
This event is put on by Activate Allen County, the Pedestrian Task Force, Paramount Advantage and several other sponsors. One sponsor said this event is important because it helps all kids stay active during the summer.
“Being able to ride a bike to a child in the summer is everything, it’s great,” said Pamela Bunch, Paramount Advantage senior outreach coordinator. “We’re happy that we can help those kids that maybe need a little extra attention to their bikes get that.”
The Bike Rodeo is a free and public event held every year for kids ages five through 12.
