Ohio Northern University law students received a firsthand look at the 3rd District Court of Appeals in action as the court traveled to Ada to hear two cases at the Pettit College of Law on Tuesday morning.
AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The former Wapakoneta mayor wins his appeal for his 2022 conviction in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court.
The appellate judges upheld the decision by the Allen County Board of Elections that Hardesty is a Lima resident according to the city charter. Alice Donahue and Bart Mills say she should not be eligible to run for mayor because she was living in Texas until October of 2020 for work. The appeals court says Hardesty was a resident of Lima for at least six months before the last date the nominating petition could be filed and she didn't lose her Lima residence when she left the state for work.
The 3rd District Court of Appeals has rejected overturning a verdict for a former Mercer County man who was found guilty of making threats to his family. Jeff Rasawehr filed an appeal saying that the Celina Municipal Court and visiting Judge David Faulkner made errors during the trial that impacted the outcome. But the appellate court found that Rasawehr's argument was not sound and rejected the appeal. He was sentenced to community control after he was found guilty by a jury on one misdemeanor count each of menacing by stalking and telecommunications harassment.
