The charges stem from different incidents where investigators say Stinebaugh used his position as mayor to have the city install and pay for a sewer line to a home for his company.

The 3rd District Court of Appeals released its opinion on the case against Tom Stinebaugh. The judges heard arguments back in September 2023 on his appeal. Stinebaugh was sentenced to 18 months in prison after a jury found him guilty of having an unlawful interest in a public contract and theft in office. However, the 3rd District Court vacated both those convictions. He was also found guilty of three counts of conflict of interest, but the appellate court did not change those decisions.

The charges stem from different incidents where investigators say Stinebaugh used his position as mayor to have the city install and pay for a sewer line to a home for his company.

Because of his appeal, Stinebaugh has not served any prison time yet. The case will return to Auglaize County for further court hearings because of this ruling.
