Agriculture in Allen County represents nearly 139 million dollars of revenue a year, and 80% of the landmass in the county is agriculture. Nominations are now being accepted for the 12th induction of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce's Agriculture Hall of Fame. They are looking for people who meet the criteria for both producers and breeders, as well as those who are agriculturally related.

At the City Club in Lima, two honorees were inducted into the Allen County Agriculture Hall of Fame for their instrumental roles in providing success and excellence in the agricultural community in Allen County. Steiner Stock Farm and Wallace Winegardner were inducted Tuesday evening into the hall of fame, and a banquet was held for their contributions to the agricultural community of Allen County.

Agriculture is big business in Allen County and it’s time to recognize those who have been instrumental in its success. With $139-million dollars in annual crop and livestock sales, production agriculture is Allen County’s largest industry. Farms occupy over 80% of the county’s land base. The Ag-Business committee of the Chamber is looking for nominees for the 2020 Allen County Agriculture Hall of Fame.

The Chamber of Commerce honored four Allen County men for their work in the field of agriculture. William Bowersock was awarded a spot in Allen County's Agriculture Hall of Fame in a ceremony Thursday evening at the City Club. He name will be entered in with other 2019 inductees John Nixon, William Strayer, and Robert Mayer, who all were honored posthumously.
