ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - It's the largest business in Allen County, and it's now time to recognize those who have dedicated their lives to keeping it going.
Agriculture in Allen County represents nearly 139 million dollars of revenue a year, and 80% of the landmass in the county is agriculture. Nominations are now being accepted for the 12th induction of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce's Agriculture Hall of Fame. They are looking for people who meet the criteria for both producers and breeders, as well as those who are agriculturally related.
"It's more than just simply being a lifelong farmer or a lifelong agribusiness person. It's going beyond that. It's making an impact in your community outside of agriculture. It's getting involved at the state and national levels. Teaching others and promoting the industry in general," explained Russ Decker, an Agribusiness Committee member.
Nomination applications can be found at the Allen County Agriculture Hall of Fame website or the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce office. The deadline for submissions is May 10th, with the induction ceremony in July.
