Area seniors are taking their best shot at a new program launched by the Allen County Council on Aging.
As the Walking the Wards series continues, Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith made a special stop at the Allen County Council on Aging.
“Well, we started about six, seven years ago,” said Quincy Peoples, Director of Fresh-N-Faded Team Outreach Lima. “We teamed up with fresher faded, you know, we reach out to the community of Lima, and they make these events special for either the nursing homes or the community or for the kids. That’s why it’s called Team Outreach Lima.”
The levy will provide funding to maintain and support services and facilities for the elderly in the county. It specifically benefits programs operated by the Allen County Council on Aging, Senior Citizen Services of Allen County, the Senior Citizens Association of Bluffton, and Delphos Senior Citizens.

The annual Lima Charity Car Show put their money where their mouth is today. The car show charity raises money every year in June for their annual event at Apollo Career Center. This year they reached a new high, raising ten thousand dollars and donating that money to local charities like the Veterans Food Pantry, the Crossroads Crisis Center, and the Allen County Council on Aging. The car show has been around for 18 years, and what started out as a small fundraiser has now evolved into a community-wide charity for all to enjoy.
