LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Service to the community is a significant part of Judy Jacomet’s life, and she consistently goes above and beyond to help wherever she can.

“And there are so many different opportunities in our community. It's a good community for that, because there's so many different agencies and things like the museum and the parks and the nursing homes and so many places people can share. So whatever talent they have or whatever interest, there's probably something that's going to fit for them,” said Judy Jacomet, the 2025 Jefferson Award winner.

Jacomet shares her time, talents, and willingness to help with numerous organizations. When she is not assisting people at the Allen County Council on Aging, she is teaching students at Saint Rose Catholic Church and helping during the service. She also volunteers with Johnny Appleseed Parks and the Audubon Society and helps with Alzheimer’s walks, just to name a few.

Jefferson Award winner Judy Jacomet: A life dedicated to service

Jacomet shares her time, talents, and willingness to help with numerous organizations.

“I have a variety of interests. I like so many different things. I want to be able to assist people, but also, I learn things like nature or Alzheimer's or whatever it is and working with the young people. They're all different and I like that part of it,” added Jacomet.

“I've known Judy for over 30 years, and she's always been the sweetest, kindest, most loving person. She gives every minute of every day to other people, and she just fascinates me. She's so involved in so many organizations and spends all her time caring for other people,” said Connie Dershem, who nominated Jacomet for the Jefferson Award.

Jacomet believes it is important to give back by volunteering.

“Well of course, it helps the community and helps, more importantly, individual people that might need some kind of assistance. It's good for everybody. I mean, the volunteers gain a lot too, but I think we all need to think about not just us or our work, but the whole community, and how whatever talents or gifts we have we could share with other people,” said Jacomet.
