The Allen County Engineers Office is announcing a temporary road closure for Sugar Creek Township residents. Wapak Road between State Road and Billymack Road will closed between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for  bridge repairs starting Monday, March 10th through Friday, March 14 th There will be no access during the work hours.

Buckeye Road will be seeing major improvements as a shoulder enhancement gets underway. The project just going out for bid with construction to start in June. The road is in bad shape as truck traffic has broken it down. There will also be upgrades to the traffic signals and work on the CSX rail crossing. The project is being paid for with a 1.1-million-dollar grant from the state.

It was closed due to the erosion of the banks of the Ottawa River. As these photos show the ground just started slipping into the river making the road unsafe. With no funding for this unexpected event, the Allen County Engineers office has received a zero percent loan from the Ohio Public Works Commission to start work in July to reconfigure the road.

The bridge on Columbus Grove Bluffton Road will be closed for 6 weeks while the Allen County Engineers Office makes repairs on the 63-year-old structure. During an annual inspection, it was decided to close the bridge while making the needed repairs. Rhodes says that depending on the weather and staffing the repairs could take less than 6-weeks. The repairs will extend the life of the bridge until it can be replaced.

Snow is on its way and the Allen County Engineer's Office is doing all they can to make sure the roads are safe. A mixture of snow and rain is expected to hit the area by six tonight. The wintry mix is expected to make the roads icy. But this upcoming snow isn't as bad as previous years.

The highway road superintendent says this year's winter season is moderate. The night crew at the Allen County Engineers Office is already prepared for the wintry mix. Trucks are packed with salt and they will be out treating the roads this evening.
