Former Allen County Regional Transit Authority director, Sheila Haney, has been sentenced after being found guilty of several charges regarding misuse of RTA money. Haney has been ordered to serve a concurrent aggregate sentence of 30 months in prison. She has also been ordered to pay nearly $28,000 to the RTA and $410 to the Ohio Auditor of State in restitution.

October 11, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine: (COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Pamela Boratyn today announced more than $23 million in funding support for urban transit entities across the state. As part of ODOT's Urban Transit Program, $23.1 million will be awarded among Ohio's 26 urban transit agencies. Funding will be used for a variety of purposes such as transit fleet expansion, replacement vehicles, preventative maintenance, facility upgrades, new equipment and technology, and operating assistance.

The Allen County Regional Transit Authority is celebrating half a century of serving the Lima area. The public was welcome to an open house to join the RTA in celebrating the big 50th anniversary. Guests could pick up free swag and check out historical displays with photos and articles going back even before they were founded in 1974. People could see past vehicles, staff, and events like bus rodeos and learn about the process of expanding the RTA from just a garage to the current buildings and terminal.

The Allen County Regional Transit Authority will soon be reinstating their routes for the new year. All of the weekday routes that the RTA had to stop in 2017 will be re-instated by the end of the year, this includes a new route that will serve the area around South Metcalf and Shawnee. It combines routes 8 and 9. The RTA will also be able to bring back services that had previously been cut, thanks to funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The Allen County Regional Transit Authority will be able to do more for the community after receiving some grant money. The RTA applied for grants with the Ohio Department of Transportation earlier this year. They were given around $300,000 for operating costs, which will help until the money from the levy starts to come in starting next year. The extra money gives the RTA the chance to start up some of the programs that had been cut before.
