ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) — Gov. Mike DeWine announced a new round of public transit funding aimed at helping Ohioans get to work. In a joint release with the Ohio Department of Transportation, the state said more than $13 million will be invested in the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program.

Locally, the Allen County Regional Transit Authority was awarded two grants to expand services into Van Wert County. A $337,000 grant will extend a route that will include microtransit and on-demand response options to connect residents with major employers and job centers in both counties. A second grant, totaling $275,000, will provide two new vehicles for the expanded route.

DeWine said transportation should never prevent someone from accessing a good job, and these investments aim to strengthen workforce opportunities across the region.
