September 20, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Public Safety: (COLUMBUS, Ohio) – National Child Passenger Safety Week is September 15-21, 2024 and The Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) is reminding parents and caregivers that children are best protected in a crash when they are buckled correctly in the right seats for their ages and sizes. This week, OTSO visited Richardson Elementary school in Cuyahoga Falls to observe the new “Buckle Up with Brutus” safety education program created for second and third grade students. The program aims to educate students and families about the importance of wearing a seat belt and using a booster seat.

Dana Incorporated says they will be closing the Lima facility in 2025. The company has confirmed that they are moving the production from the Lima plant, located at 777 Bible Road Lima, Ohio, to other plants in the United States by the end of 2025. The union workers were told about the move Wednesday morning. The plant has been in operation since 1970 and manufactures drive shafts for trucks and commercial vehicles.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio in Lima.

August 1, 2024, Press Release from the University of Northwestern Ohio: The University of Northwestern Ohio campus will be seeing a large influx of new students this month.  UNOH will have approximately 400 students move in beginning at 9:00am Thursday, August 15, through 3:00pm on Friday, August 16, 2024.  August 19th is the first day of classes for the College of Applied Technologies fall session.  Programs of study in the College of Applied Technologies include High Performance Motorsports, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Technology, Agricultural Equipment Technology, Robotics & Automation Technology, and HVAC/R Technology.  In September, nearly 200 more students enrolled in the Colleges of Business, Health Professions, and Occupational Professions will move in.  Their fall quarter classes start on September 16.  This year, students are traveling in from 35 different states and 26 countries.

Software company "CDK Global" was the latest victim of back-to-back cyberattacks, leading to big headaches for car dealers. North American car dealerships, including those throughout our area, who rely on the software company for day-to-day technology operations, have been impacted, including Ford, BMW, and Stellantis, meaning orders are being drafted by hand. The cyberattacks happened on Wednesday.

June 7, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Marysville Post: Middleburg – The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating an injury crash involving two motor vehicles. The crash occurred on June 5, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m. on US Route 33, near milepost 28. A 2013 Honda Civic operated by Sarah Van Dyke, 23, of Zanesfield, was traveling westbound on US 33 when she lost control and went through the median into the eastbound lanes of travel. A 2007 Nissan Altima operated by Aaron Roy, 20 of Bellefontaine, was traveling eastbound on US 33 and struck Ms. Van Dyke, causing her to overturn. Ms. Van Dyke was transported from the scene by Perry Township with non-life-threatening injuries. Mr. Roy was transported by Allen Township with non-life-threatening injuries.

While it's the unofficial start of summer, it's the official start of car show season. Tomorrow is the Western Buckeye Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America's annual car show. The club has hosted the event for four years now, raising money for Habitat for Humanity and scholarships for students attending the University of Northwestern Ohio. The organizers say that the car show is a win-win for everyone involved.
