Officers were dispatched to a report of a deceased person floating in the retention pond at the rear of 1161 W. Trenton Ave. The body of a deceased white male was recovered from the pond. The body was transported to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy. At this time the deceased male has not been identified.

The State of Ohio has announced that all Department of Natural Resource Officers will now be equipped with body cameras.  Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine originally began the process towards outfitting wildlife and natural resource officers with body cameras in 2021 and since then the department looked for approval to use $3.5 million in federal funding from the federal coronavirus relief fund to purchase the cameras. ODNR Dir. Mary Mertz says that all officers have been well trained in the use of the body camera technology and will use them to protect the people of Ohio as well as increase trust of visitors. The rollout for the body worn cameras are expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

There were a total of 109 agencies to get grant money. 49 of them including the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office who got $67,530.00, the Bellefontaine Police Department received $79,650.00, and the Logan County Sheriff's Office attained $46,206.00. They will be using the grant money to start the body-worn camera program at their department.

They say the body belongs to a 56-year-old man. His name has not been released yet, pending the notification of his family. An autopsy by the Lucas County Coroner's Office couldn't point out a cause of death in the initial findings. The continuance of the investigation will depend on the toxicology results.

Around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday evening, the Lima Police Department responded to the 500 block of South Pine Street on reports of a body being found. According to scanner traffic, investigative units were called to a home there. They say they are treating it as a crime scene, but are not sure at this point if foul play is involved.

More information has been released about the body found in Grand Lake St. Marys. Celina first responders were called out around 7 p.m. Tuesday night for reports of a body seen in the water near the lighthouse, off of Main Street. The body was an adult male and will be sent to Montgomery County Coroner to determine a cause of death as well as his identity. The police department is also investigating the disappearance of a Celina man, but they can not positively identify the body found in the water as the missing man. Both cases are still under investigation.
