All ODNR officers in the state are to be equipped with body cameras

Columbus, OH (WLIO) - The State of Ohio has announced that all Department of Natural Resource Officers will now be equipped with body cameras. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine originally began the process towards outfitting wildlife and natural resource officers with body cameras in 2021 and since then the department looked for approval to use $3.5 million in federal funding from the federal coronavirus relief fund to purchase the cameras. ODNR Dir. Mary Mertz says that all officers have been well trained in the use of the body camera technology and will use them to protect the people of Ohio as well as increase trust of visitors. The rollout for the body worn cameras are expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
