Rhodes State College is pleased to announce that it will host a site visit for the initial accreditation of its RN-to-BSN Completion Program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
The Community Developmental Screening has a new partner and new location to help parents see if their child is on track. The Early Intervention Specialists at the Allen County Board of DD and Rhodes State College are teaming up to put on the biannual screenings at the Borra Center for Health Sciences in downtown Lima. The screenings are for children birth to five years old. Parents were able to have their kids checked in nine different categories, including hearing, vision, speech, and motor skills. Which gives them the chance to address any concerns that they have. Besides being a great resource for parents, the developmental screening is a benefit to Rhodes’ students too.
Representatives from the West Central Ohio Nursing Leadership toured the Borra Center and got to see how Lima Memorial and Rhodes State are using technology to further a student's education in nursing, such as the use of robots and different test areas to provide a real-life scenario for the students.
An event showed students what they can expect when they enter the health industry. 125 students from Apollo Career Center and Tri-Star Career Compact attended Med Prep Day, hosted by Rhodes State College. The event has students go to the main campus as well as the Borra Center for Health Sciences located in Lima's Town Square. Rhodes State College states that they wanted to make sure students learn about what they can expect in the field early, as well as get a first-hand look at certain advancements in the industry.
Interested individuals and their parents had a chance to see the facilities and talk with faculty and financial aid advisors. It was a good turnout at the Borra Center for Health Sciences as those in attendance got an up-close and personal look at the high-tech state-of-the-art educational equipment. The open house drew not only high school seniors but others in the medical field looking to further their education.
Chancellor Randy Gardner getting a chance to take in all the high-tech, state-of-the-art training and educational equipment that is being used at the center. Many of which are the first of it’s kind being used in the classroom. Virtual cadavers, simulated rollover accident vehicles, and more. Gardner was impressed with the facilities, its degrees, and its use by outside agencies.
The Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Rhodes State College said that the construction is moving along as scheduled on the Borra Center for Health Sciences and is expected to be completed in June of this year and will have students in it beginning in the upcoming fall semester. During the Tuesday afternoon board meeting, the board discussed purchasing furniture and equipment to move into the building in the coming months that will go a long way in teaching and preparing students for a medical setting.
The Kiwanis Club of Lima was given a close look at the Rhodes State downtown building during their virtual meeting Tuesday afternoon. Kevin Reeks with Rhodes State College showed off some of the construction progress of the Borra Center for Health Sciences.
The Center for Health Science Education and Innovation in Lima’s Town Square has received an official name.
