Participants presented their ideas to a panel of experienced entrepreneurs and financial experts, who were responsible for determining which business ventures they felt should receive a public loan or be financed through venture capital.
Presented by the Walter C. Potts Entrepreneur Center, the competition targeted start-up and emerging businesses seeking startup money to launch or grow their operations.

"We have a little bit of a rubric. In order to participate, have a business plan and a paragraph as to why they want to pitch. Then, they should have financials or the cash flow projections in that as well. We always say, Who are you, the who, what, where, when, and how. Who are you? Where are you going to be? Where are you going? When do you need the money? What are you going to use it for? And how? How is it going to be efficient," stated Nicole Scott, Director of the Small Business Development Center at Rhodes State College.
Melinda Bowden, owner of PromoHits! Ltd., added, "The number one thing I want to be able to do is to seem not worried. I want to be able to walk in that door and feel confident. But I also want them to know that I've done my homework and I'm going to go forward with this, regardless of whether or not I get money here, but the money would be a great help to us."
Judges will let the participants know this Friday whether their company will receive funding.
