The ALL program is designed to help participants better understand the region they live and work in. The class meets once a month for 10 months, with each session focused on a different topic. Participants visit a variety of businesses, industries and educational institutions to see how each plays a vital role in the overall success of the region.

Many Allen County high school students got out of the classroom and into the community today to learn about the critical roles local agencies play in the region. Students with the Allen Lima Youth Leadership program participated in the United Way of Greater Lima Impact Tour. The tour gives students an opportunity to see the effect various United Way-funded organizations have on the Lima community.

“For the eighth through 11th graders, it's an opportunity for you to get some exposure,” said Londell Smith of the Smith Jones Family Foundation. “You can see what it might be like. You can see if you can see yourself in that environment. Get some information in terms of what you have to do to prepare to be able to maximize that environment. That way when you come back home, you know what to do in school.”
