“We want them to actually come inside and see what's inside the building, not just the esthetics, but also the type of program and things like that that we have at Bradfield. I'm excited. And one of the things also is we're pushing our membership drive. We're trying to get our membership drive going,” said Chris Jackson, executive director of the Bradfield Community Center.

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Bradfield Center celebrated Black History Month by sharing their own story on Sunday.
They are volunteers and many agencies and organizations couldn't manage without them. Nominations are now being sought for the 2023 Jefferson Awards for public service. We all know someone that fits the bill of always saying yes when asked to help or the person that steps up in a time of need. This recognition is open to adults and youths in Allen, Auglaize, Putnam, Van Wert, Hardin, and Hancock Counties. Winners not only get a medallion but also a monetary donation to a non-profit of their choice.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio is trying to get 31 new Bigs signed up in 31 days in the month of January. The program offers mentoring opportunities for school-based programs or community-based program.
They currently have around 25 kids that are waiting for Bigs in Allen, Hardin, and Putnam Counties. Officials at Big Brothers Big Sisters say the reward of being a mentor is special.
A donation from a local photographer has made it possible for area fire departments to put up special signs reading "heroes work here" at their stations.
