On May 18th, the Lima Area Habitat for Humanity will be holding a coffee and dessert tasting at the City Club. The Meeting Place on Market, Vibe Coffeehouse, and Sara's Sweets will be combining different coffee roasts and brewing techniques to pair with something sweet. Habitat for Humanity will also be sharing its vision for the upcoming year and talking about its program, "Shingles of Hope."

Habitat for Humanity Lima celebrated their volunteers and partners Tuesday Night during their Christmas Banquet at the City Club in Downtown Lima. Habitat for Humanity Lima had a busy year in 2022 which included completely repairing roofs for several families in need, and all of that hard work accomplished would not be possible without the generosity and passion from volunteers and partners.

Residents can ask questions and comment on the site selection process, the pool study, and the cost of the project. Back in fall 2020, the City of Lima determined that the Schoonover Pool would be too costly to repair and open for another season. So, they have been working on developing a plan to replace the pool with a new aquatic center. The cost is projected to be just under $9 million.

The “I Have a Dream” Awards program is sponsored by 6th Ward Councilman Derry Glenn. The gathering is a chance to acknowledge those who have made a difference in the Lima community. Glenn says there will be several awards given in memory of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior and his dream.

Guiding Light Ministries assists women in crisis to provide a safe environment for them to learn how to be successful and take care of their families. The ministry was established in 2009 with their first house opening in 2013 and a second house in 2015. The program is still growing and has been successful in helping women on all levels of life.
