Police arriving at the home found she was holding the device and immediately advised her to put it down. Officers believed the grenade was live since it still had a pin in it and a screw in the bottom. The Allen County Bomb Squad was called in, confirming the grenade was still active, removing it to the city dump where it was detonated and destroyed.
What was formally called City Wide Pride will now be the Mayors Spring Cleaning initiative. The change of name is to widen the types of cleaning to be done. The hope is that local organizations come out and clean up their neighborhoods as a group.
Saturday's City Wide Pride event saw a surprising amount of response. 904 tires were collected, and seven 30-yard dumpsters were filled. City administration says that is a good sign that people are taking an interest in cleaning up their homes and their neighborhood. Even with the new protocols due to COVID of unloading it yourself did not stop people.
