It’s that time of the year for a little spring cleaning and the Mayor of Lima is hoping to get everyone sprucing up the city.

What was formally called City Wide Pride will now be the Mayors Spring Cleaning initiative. The change of name is to widen the types of cleaning to be done. The hope is that local organizations come out and clean up their neighborhoods as a group.

Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith adds, “We’ve been out walking the wards almost twice weekly and some of the things we see is an accumulation of trash, small maintenance items that need to be repaired, pulling up overgrowth. So, we are asking individuals to get out and help us with that.”

Dumpsters will be located throughout the city, and they will also provide trash bags, yard waste bags, and gloves to groups participating. To receive these to assist in your clean-up effort, they ask that you register by calling 419-221-5177. Clean-up dates are May 14th, May 21st, June 4th, and June 11th.
