ALLEN CO., (WLIO) — The Allen County Dog Wardens are conducting dog license checks to make sure information on licenses is up to date.
If a dog gets lost or runs away, having a current dog license can help the animal get back to its owner as quickly as possible. Dog owners who have purchased a license but have changed any of the information provided when the license was issued are asked to contact the Allen County Dog Warden’s Office.
“They could contact our office if they've moved, changed phone numbers, anything information wise that we have on your on your dog license form, we need to get that updated. Some people will move and stay within the county, some people move out of the county, some people move out of the state. So, get us that information. You can call and do that, stop in the office if you're out our way, 1165 Seriff Road, and we're there Monday through Friday 9:00 to 5:00. We get a lot of dogs coming in without their dog license on, so when they when they claim them, if they do claim them, which we hope, then they can purchase the tag at that time,” says Julie Shellhammer, Allen County Dog Warden.
Dog owners can contact the office by phone or visit in person at 1165 Seriff Road, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dogs older than 3 months are required to have a dog license.
