The Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program helps Ohioans at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines pay their heating bills. Ohioans who are threatened with disconnection, have been disconnected from their utility service, transferring services, establishing new services, have a PIPP default with a disconnection notice or at or below 25% fuel, may also be eligible for the HEAP Winter Crisis Program, available now and through March 31, 2023.
The Ohio Department of Development and West Ohio CAP will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying an electric bill or assistance paying for central air conditioning repairs. The program runs from July 1-Sept. 30, 2023. To apply for the program, clients are required to schedule an appointment with West Ohio CAP. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 419-516-0063.
The Summer Crisis Program assists low-income households with a member who is either 60 years of age or older, has a certified medical condition, has received a disconnect notice, has been shut off, is trying to establish new electric service, or requires air conditioning. The household must have a gross annual income at or below 175% of the federal poverty level. For a family of four, that is $52,500.
