The Lima Family YWCA of Northwest Ohio has launched its six-week Teen Outreach Program summer camp, giving local teens opportunities to build friendships, serve the community and learn life skills. Campers will participate in themed activities, field trips and hands-on experiences, including maintaining a garden that supports local farmers markets and community events.
The Allen County Children’s Garden continues to grow and serve the community nearly 30 years after its founding in 1996. The Allen County Master Gardeners kicked off their Summer Brown Bag Series with a presentation on the garden’s history and announced a free butterfly release celebration scheduled for Sept. 13.

Activate Allen County is encouraging residents to start thinking about spring by taking part in community gardening opportunities in Lima.
“We do it to not just promote unity in the community, but to get people together to learn about resources so that they can thrive in our communities,” said Chad Welker, associate director of Activate Allen County. “When we know what our community needs from a resource perspective, we can tailor those resources and better our communities.”
Butterflies spread their wings and flew in New Bremen on Monday night, all for a good cause. The Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities released the butterflies to celebrate their new "Wings and Blooms Community Garden."
