LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — One of Lima’s biggest neighborhood block parties is back, and it’s open to the entire community.
The South Jackson Street Community Block Party has become an annual tradition, bringing neighbors together to promote unity and provide access to helpful resources. The event is hosted by Activate Allen County and sponsored by Humana.
This year’s block party will offer health and wellness resources, games, fun activities, and plenty of food. Organizers say the goal is to celebrate the community while connecting residents with tools that support a healthier lifestyle.
“We do it to not just promote unity in the community, but to get people together to learn about resources so that they can thrive in our communities,” said Chad Welker, associate director of Activate Allen County. “When we know what our community needs from a resource perspective, we can tailor those resources and better our communities.”
The block party takes place this Saturday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jackson Street Community Garden, located at 200 South Jackson Street in Lima. No registration is needed — just show up, grab a plate, and enjoy the celebration.
