LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - McDonald’s locations across the greater Ohio region are once again helping kids gear up for the upcoming school year. On Monday, the fast-food chain kicked off its third annual school supply drive, partnering with Allen County Children Services to give students an A-plus start to their school year.
A total of 380 McDonald’s restaurants—including 12 in the Lima area—are accepting donations of basic school supplies such as pens, pencils, notebooks, and crayons.

This annual initiative is one of the ways McDonald’s aims to give back to the communities it serves.
"Over the years, we've just looked at opportunities and how we can partner with local families and local students. In this case, and we saw a need and had people in our community that really needed some extra support going back to school. We believe that going back ready on the first day with school supplies in hand, really kicks off the school year strong. So we saw a need there, and were able to step in and help out," said Jonathan Lewis, McDonald's owner and operator.
Donation boxes will be available inside participating McDonald’s restaurants through Aug. 4. As a thank-you, anyone who donates supplies will receive a coupon for a free Egg McMuffin and McCrispy Strips.
Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships and Your Hometown Stations are also collecting supplies as part of the effort.
