FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) — A Findlay man was arrested Friday night after police say he fled from officers following a theft at a Findlay sporting goods store.
According to the Findlay Police Department, Christopher Anders, 37, allegedly walked out of Dick’s Sporting Goods on Tiffin Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. with a cart full of merchandise.
Police said officers spotted Anders soon afterward and attempted to stop him, but he drove off. Authorities say Anders ran stoplights and drove at speeds exceeding 60 mph before eventually stopping.
Anders was taken into custody and booked into the Hancock County Jail.
He is facing charges of fleeing and eluding a police officer and theft. Police said the value of the stolen items elevated the theft charge to a felony level.
Anders remains in jail awaiting arraignment.
