CONTINENTAL, Ohio (WLIO) — People will have a second chance to see the Big Boy steam engine when it returns to northwest Ohio on its trip back to the West Coast.
The Big Boy 4014 will return to Continental for a whistle stop on Wednesday, July 15. The iconic locomotive previously stopped in the village on June 6 while traveling to Philadelphia for Fourth of July events.
More than 6,000 people traveled to the Putnam County village to see the historic engine during its first visit.
The 4014 is one of 25 Big Boy steam engines ever produced and the only one that remains in operation.
The whistle stop is expected to begin around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Oak Street and Main Street. The locomotive is expected to remain in Continental for about 30 minutes.
Law enforcement and first responders will be on hand to assist with traffic. The railroad asks the public to stay at least 25 feet away from all railroad tracks.
