OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) — Putnam County health officials are inviting residents to help shape the future of health and wellness in the community.

After completing a community health assessment in 2025, the Putnam County Health Department and its partners developed a Community Health Improvement Plan focused on three priorities: mental health and substance misuse, community conditions, and chronic disease and healthy behaviors.

The plan will be unveiled during a public presentation where residents can learn about the goals and strategies that will guide those efforts over the next three years.

"I think these are three priorities that impact the vast majority of people in our community. And there's ways that people can get involved. And sometimes you have a passion for different areas, and ways to help your community. And it's going to be an opportunity for that," said Sherri Recker, director of nursing and health promotion for the Putnam County Health Department.

The presentation will be held Aug. 13 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Ottawa Library. The event is free and open to the public.
