VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) — A December overdose call at a Van Wert home has led to a major drug indictment.

A Van Wert County grand jury indicted 21-year-old Devin Couch of Van Wert on eight counts, including trafficking and possession of cocaine, aggravated trafficking and possession of drugs, trafficking and possession of hashish, and trafficking and possession of marijuana.

Each charge includes a firearm specification, along with eight gun forfeiture specifications. Couch pleaded not guilty to all of the charges Tuesday. The charges stem from a December call to his Van Wert home, where first responders found Couch unresponsive.

Authorities said drugs were in plain view, prompting police to obtain a search warrant. Investigators said they found a large quantity of drugs, cash and rifles with an estimated street value of $250,000.

In a separate hearing Tuesday, Couch changed his plea to guilty to one count of felonious assault in an unrelated January case. Couch is being held in the Van Wert County Jail without bond. His pretrial hearing in the drug case is scheduled for July 13.
