LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima Police Chief Curtis Hile is inviting residents to join him and other officers for a cup of coffee during the department's "Coffee with a Cop" event.
The event will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Town Roast in Lima's Town Square. Residents will have an opportunity to talk with Hile and other police officers in a casual atmosphere.
The Lima Police Department will also demonstrate some of its new equipment during the event.
"We're going to have some of our equipment from the police department there for people to see us use it in action. Be some of our drone first responders that we've been talking about for quite a while. Those are up and running, so we'll have those on display. We're going to have a canine there with his handler. So they're always a fun demonstration to see," Hile said.
Officials say the event is designed to give residents an opportunity to meet officers, ask questions and learn more about the equipment and resources used by the department.
