LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen County Engineer's Office is preparing for two multi-million dollar major road improvement projects after the Allen County Commissioners approved legislation for both projects.
Plans for a roundabout at the intersection of Fort Amanda and Buckeye roads is moving forward. The engineer's office expects to put the project out for bid in the spring of 2027, with construction anticipated to begin during the summer of 2027. Commissioners also approved legislation for a road widening project on Thayer Road between State Route 309 and Reservoir Road.
"Thayer Road will be reconstructed between State Route 309 and Reservoir Road to a 24-foot-wide pavement with 2-foot stone shoulders and a new bridge over Lost Creek. We've seen a lot of increase traffic on Thayer Road, just as an eastern bypass around the city of Lima and combined with all the truck traffic from Procter & Gamble, it's really going to help the whole area," said Mark Droll, operations engineer with the Allen County Engineer's Office.
The nearly $3 million Thayer Road project is expected to go out for bid this fall, with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
