LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — For more than 30 years, Quality Mechanical Services (QMS) has helped keep homes and businesses comfortable across west-central Ohio.
The company provides heating and air conditioning, plumbing and electrical services for residential and commercial customers. Today, it has locations in both Lima and Kenton.
"I'm basically the second generation. This business has been here since about 1995," said Bob Hare, president of Quality Mechanical Services. "It was my father's business and I always had a liking to it and came into it and have been here all these years."
Hare says the company's growth over the years has never changed its primary focus.
"Service. Servicing that customer. There's not an employee here that won't tell you that we don't demand to service that customer."
Hare says that as a family business, the relationships built over the years are just as meaningful as the work itself.
"Oh, it's great. I mean, you go to the grocery store, you go to a restaurant, and you know the people, you know customer that have become friends, they know you, you can tell the stories...it's a real warm feeling."
Many people also recognize the company by its smiling mascot, Q-me. The smiling furnace appears on commercials, company vehicles and even out and about in the community.Â
"We needed a marketing idea to identify QMS, we came up with it, and it has been fantastic. Everybody recognizes it... we've had people wanting to take rides in our Q-car. It kept my wife busy one summer, I ran a commercial and said if you buy a furnace, we'll give you a ride in the Q-car. She ended up giving several rides. Q-me has been known to go to the hospital around the holidays and make some visits there, we are very proud of Q-me."
