LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Wellness Initiative for Senior Education (WISE) program is hosting weekly seminars on managing life and making healthy lifestyle choices.

The seminars focus on the health, safety and lifestyle choices of older adults.  Workers with the WISE program talked about medication safety and the negative effects of addiction in this afternoon's session. Officials say that educating older adults is necessary because of the changes that occur as people age.

WISE discusses healthy habits for older adults

"We have a lot of medication interaction, and if you're taking legal or illegal medications with alcohol, it affects our bodies differently than when we were younger. It can be very harmful and it can be fatal," said Emily Upshaw, WISE facilitator and coordinator.

Those wanting to attend the classes can contact the PASS office with information on when and where sessions are held.
