Cynthia Scanland was scheduled to have a final pre-trial on August 1st, but they didn't go on record. A trial date of October 17th has been set. She was charged with three counts of tampering with records, and one count each of obstructing official business and dereliction of duty.

The trial will start on June 15th for Cynthia Scanland. A final pretrial has also been set for March 18th.  Scanland was fired in August of 2020 as the director of children services following an investigation.  The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation launched an investigation into the agency following the sexual abuse allegation against foster parents Jeremy Kindle and Scott Steffes. Those allegations date back to 2015.

A special prosecutor from Henry County on Scanland's case confirmed the charges are related to the investigation into children services. They date all the way back to 2015. Scanland will be arraigned Sept. 29. Scanland was fired as the director of children services following an internal investigation. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation also launched an investigation into the agency following the sexual abuse claims made against Jeremy Kindle and Scott Steffes.

Around 100 people turned out out to show support for a former public servant in one of the "new world" customs. Allen County Children Services organized a "drive by" of support and encouragement for Dan Reiff. He is the former Allen County commissioner and currently serves on the ACCS board. He has been ill and a number of people drove by his home this afternoon to give him well wishes. Law enforcement, county employees, politicians, and more all came out for the event. He's served on a number of committees and boards throughout his lifetime in Allen County, serving in any way he can.
