Recently, the Armstrong Air & Space Museum announced a unique partnership between the museum, Neil Armstrong Airport, and Tri-Star Career Compact.
The Armstrong Air & Space Museum has announced that it has earned the 2025 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award, an honor presented to attractions ranked in the top 10 percent of destinations worldwide over the past year.
The Armstrong Air & Space Museum welcomed its 3 millionth visitor, marking a major milestone in the museum’s history since opening in 1972.
Until January 2nd, the museum will have a Christmas light display every night. They have been decorating with these lights for over ten years, and their light exhibit continues to grow. The museum is also asking for donations for their 50th anniversary time capsule. The capsule will include items from the public, space-related or not.
"The impact of Neil Armstrong is still felt in our community fifty years later," said Steve Henderson, Interim Mayor of Wapakoneta. "Our residents have always grown up with this unbelievable landmark, and future generations will continue to learn about our hometown hero -- and he never wanted to be called that -- with continued inspiration."
The four-day festival to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon officially starts Thursday, July 14th in Wapakoneta. During the annual event, there will be food, activities, and music either downtown Wapakoneta or out at the Armstrong Air and Space Museum. Some of the favorites have expanded for this year’s festival.
Construction on exhibit grounds for the plane has begun on the southwest lawn of the Armstrong Air & Space Museum Grounds. The Learjet 28 will be set up almost parallel to the F5D Skylancer display. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the exhibit is currently planned for the museum's 50th anniversary on July 20th of this year.

The executive director showed him around to the latest additions in the museum like the STEM Inspiration Center, the education and future distance learning programs, and the National Aviation Heritage area. The museum was recently awarded the Travelers' Choice Award for 2020 by Trip Advisor. It's ranked in the top 10 percent of attractions in the country.
As they do every year, the museum holds special activities in honor of the moon landing and Wapakoneta's Moonfest. Of course, COVID-19 have changed the way things are done, but not entirely stopping the celebration. Monday, the museum unveiled their commemorative stamp cover, that are now on sale. They haven't been able to show the Apollo 11 documentary in their theater, but in honor of the anniversary, visitors can view it in their stem center.
