WAPAKONETA, Ohio — The Armstrong Air & Space Museum welcomed its 3 millionth visitor, marking a major milestone in the museum’s history since opening in 1972. The fortunate guest, Carole McClurg of Columbus, arrived early Tuesday morning and was greeted with applause by staff, members of the museum’s board of directors, and local officials.
“This is an exciting day for the Armstrong Air & Space Museum,” said Dante Centuori, Executive Director. “Welcoming our 3 millionth visitor is not only a testament to the legacy of the Moon landing and the spirit of exploration, but also to the generations of guests who have supported our mission. We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our community and look forward to inspiring the next million visitors.”
Carole McClurg of Columbus was the 3,000,000th visitor to the Armstrong Air & Space Museum.
As the 3 millionth guest, McClurg received a special prize basket filled with museum merchandise, commemorative items, and a complimentary membership to the Ohio History Connection. Wapakoneta City Council President Chad Doll also met with McClurg and read off a congratulatory message from Wapakoneta Mayor Dan Lee.
Since opening the museum on July 20, 1972, the museum has seen guests from every U.S. state and over 120 different countries. In 2025 alone, the museum has seen guests from over 60 different countries.
