The bands for both Delphos Jefferson and Delphos St. John's held a joint rehearsal ahead of Saturday's big game. Both bands will be performing together before the game to those in attendance. Band Directors Cameron Reed (Delphos Jefferson) and Damon Newell (Delphos St. John's) helped connect each other their students with one another, honing their skills for this Saturday.
Two local Catholic High School square off in volleyball and football to say thank you to someone who has been a big supporter of theirs for three decades.
The Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds and the Delphos Saint Johns Blue Jays came together Saturday afternoon to take part in the 2nd Battle of the Birds. Last year the two schools decide to have a unique fundraiser to support Todd Elwer who was seriously hurt in a car accident, but this time around they decided once again to battle, the boys in volleyball and the girls in flag football, to support Vince Koza who is currently going through treatment for cancer.

The festival is the biggest money maker for the school and the parish, bringing in between $100,000 and $200,000 each year. Kids and adults got to try their luck at many games and raffles. But the one place where everybody is a winner is with the beef and chicken dinners. The kitchen crew was hard a work dishing out over 6,000 dinners over the two day event. The fall festival has been going on for 107 years and doesn’t look like it is going to stop as generations upon generations continue the tradition of supporting St. Johns.
Some local youngsters are on their way to Washington D.C. to participate in the annual March for Life.
