Two local Catholic High School square off in volleyball and football to say thank you to someone who has been a big supporter of theirs for three decades. The Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds and the Delphos Saint Johns Blue Jays came together Saturday afternoon to take part in the 2nd Battle of the Birds. Last year the two schools decide to have a unique fundraiser to support Todd Elwer who was seriously hurt in a car accident, but this time around they decided once again to battle, the boys in volleyball and the girls in flag football, to support Vince Koza who is currently going through treatment for cancer.
“There was no hesitation for a second, in fact when they heard about this on the news they all came in with the idea and Delphos didn’t hesitate to accept the challenge one more time,” says Deb Schenk, LCC Teen Leadership Class Instructor. “The kids know what Vince has done for athletics and athletes in our community, and they just want to say thank you.”
The event held a drawing and sold t-shirts to help raise money for the Koza family
