LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - An incident at a downtown Lima gas station on April 30th has a Lima councilman angry and upset.

This body cam of 6th ward councilman Derry Glenn has been posted on Facebook and has had thousands of hits. Glenn had been verbally harassed by a man at the Marathon station at the corner of Metcalf and Market Streets. When the man became more belligerent, Glenn asked the store clerk to call the police.

Councilman Derry Glenn responds to body cam video involving April 30th incident

LPD officers responded just after 7 PM to an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at the gas station. When officers arrived, Glenn, already upset from the harassment, began to tell officers about the situation and became more upset when he felt disrespected when an officer asked for his name and how to spell it. He is also upset that he hasn't been contacted about the incident.

"This has been going on for almost two weeks, and I haven't got a call from nobody, I waited for a call," said Glenn. "I can do a report for myself to put on my records that this happened, I put a report in my office out of respect. They disrespected me, I'm very much disrespected. But you can't hurt my feelings, though. It's not going to stop me from working hard in the community, you hurt my feelings because no one called to say Derry, are you all right?"

Glenn has not filed a complaint with the police about the incident. Lima Police did take 63-year-old William Woodley into custody and charged him with intoxication, gave him a court date, and he was released. As for his reaction seen in the body cam video, Glenn had no comment.

The Lima Fraternal Order of Police issued a statement about the body cam footage:

The Lima Fraternal Order of Police #21 prides itself with being the voice of our Law Enforcement brothers and sisters who have served and are currently serving the residents of the Lima area. The public gets small glimpses into the job these officers do every day with news articles, social media posts, and online videos. At times, these glimpses show just a minor fraction of their job which occurs daily.

In regard to a video that has been in circulation recently, many people have had their opinions as to what was said, and how the citizens have acted.

I can tell you what I saw in the video.

I can tell you that I couldn't be more proud of the officers on the scene. They handled the situation professionally and with resolve. They took this call, handled it well, and through their shift, handled many more calls without complaint.

These men and women of law enforcement face challenges most will never see, made sacrifices most will never know, and have shown courage which words could not capture.

Every call answered, every life protected, every act of integrity leaves a mark on the communities we serve.

I personally would like to thank the City of Lima Administration, the Allen County Commissioners, and all the local governing agencies in Allen and surrounding counties. Thank you for employing the finest law enforcement officers in the nation. The community is a better place with these fine men and women protecting and serving our communities. I am proud to serve with them on a daily basis.

With this week (May 10-16) being National Police Week, this statement reaffirms my faith and trust in our law enforcement community, and how proud I am of each and every one of them.

Thank you all
