LIMA, OH (WLIO) - If you plan on having fun this New Year's, make sure you do so safely.
The Lima Allen County Safe Community Coalition looked back at some of the things they have done this year to raise awareness of safety issues. The partners in the coalition met for their winter meeting to talk about some of the things they have done over the past year. The coalition does programs for kids, driver's education for teens, and promotes fire safety and using a designated driver if people go out drinking.
A partnership between the Lima Allen County Safe Community Coalition, local law enforcement, and The Met is trying to make sure everyone enjoys their St. Patrick's Day in a safe way. They are encouraging people to be proactive in finding a designated sober driver for their celebration plans. Rob Nelson, the owner of The Met, loves to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and is happy to encourage sober drivers each year with homemade mocktails free of alcohol and free of charge for any designated drivers.
The MET is brewing up a plan to get everyone home safe this St. Patrick's day. As a courtesy for all designated drivers, they will be providing them with a free St. Paddy's themed mock-tail that will tickle their taste buds. This concoction is a mix of cucumber, lime, ginger beer, and simple syrup, and is completely non-alcoholic.
