LIMA, OH (WLIO) - They were all a buzz at the last Brown Bag Series of the season at the Allen County Children's Garden Tuesday afternoon. It was all about bees—honeybees, to be exact. Did you know that 80% of food is pollinated by managed honeybees? Honey is the only food that contains all the essential nutrients to sustain life, and one hive can make 20 to 60 pounds of honey per year. There are three types of honey bees: the drone, the worker, and the queen. All are essential parts of a successful hive. As gardeners, we can also support the honey bees.

We are talking about 4-H kids, and we asked some in the Horse Barn about getting to work at the Allen County Fair as the sun starts to rise. For the 2024 Allen County Horse Queen, Elayna Smith, that perspective starts bright and early in the morning in the barn with her horse Cherokee.

New royalty has been coronated Monday night at the Auglaize County Fair in Wapakoneta! Braiden Lee was crowned the 2024 Auglaize County Junior Fair King while Chloe Pax was honored as the Auglaize County Junior Fair Queen. Over the years, the king and queen have been involved with the Auglaize County Junior Fair Board. Braiden has shown chickens, ducks, goats, and feeder cows while Chloe has shown rabbits and goats in addition to completing nutrition and special interest projects. Following the coronation, we talked with the new king and queen about what it means to receive the crown.
The weather was perfect Friday evening for car enthusiasts to show off their sweet rides for two good causes! Buckeye Cruisers hosted a special Friday Night Cruise at Central District Lima in downtown Friday evening with a variety of muscle, sports, and historical cars out for display. The cruise in was all for two good causes in Allen County raising funds via donations and a 50-50 raffle to benefit the Allen County Veterans Food Pantry and Deb's Dogs. Donations of food and pet supplies were also welcomed. Organizers say the event is all about community and supporting one another.

The Lima Kennel Club Show Grounds was filled with hundreds of dogs on their best behavior over the weekend for the 83rd Annual All-Breed Dog Show.
